How to clean Colorado Encoder Strip

To clean the encoder strip on a Canon Colorado 1650 printer, you'll need a clean, lint-free cloth (or cotton swabs), and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or window cleaner. Carefully inspect the strip for dirt or grease, and gently wipe it clean with the moistened cloth or swab. Be sure to avoid scratching or damaging the strip during the cleaning process.

Detailed Steps:

  1. Open the top cover
  2. Locate the Encoder Strip: The encoder strip is a clear plastic strip that sits in front of the drive belt. It has a metal strip on the bottom half
  3. Inspect for Dirt: Use a flashlight to inspect the strip for any dirt, grease, or smudges.
  4. Moisten the Cleaning Material: Lightly moisten a lint-free cloth or cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol or window cleaner.
  5. Clean the Strip: Gently wipe the encoder strip, ensuring the cleaning material is not dripping wet.
  6. Dry if Needed: If any liquid remains on the strip, use a dry cloth or swab to dry it.
  7. Reassemble: Close the printer cover and reconnect the power cord.
